Celebration of Life Butterfly Release 2023

We invite you to participate in our second annual Celebration of Life Butterfly Release, honouring the beloved members of our community who have departed in 2022 and prior.

Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Palliative Care is again excited to announce our annual Butterfly Release event, which will take place at the Community Centre located at 14 Anderson Lane in the beautiful town of Niagara-on-the-Lake.

As an attendee, stroll down memory lane by sharing a picture or collage of your loved ones labelled with their name, which will be displayed on tables in the auditorium. We will also offer coffee, tea, and light snacks inside the venue.

At 1 pm, we will announce the start of the butterfly release, and those who have reserved one can pick up their butterfly. We will then move outside for a brief service, during which we will read the names of the loved ones who passed away in 2022 and prior. Then, as a group, we will release the indigenous “Painted Lady Butterflies.”

The Celebration of Life Butterfly Release is a tribute to all significant others, from partners to pets, who passed in 2022. We also have extra butterflies that can be released honouring loved ones who passed away in previous years, though their names will not be read on the memorial scroll.
