The Healing Cycle – A Virtual Cycling Fundraising Challenge

This year, the Niagara on the Lake Community Palliative Care Services’ Pedal Pushers are challenging businesses and individuals in our community to raise $10,000 for Niagara on the Lake Community Palliative Care.

Niagara on the Lake Community Palliative Care’s team, the Pedal Pushers, is looking to raise $10,000 in funds and awareness on a subject matter that people often don’t talk about – hospice palliative care.

Not many people know that only 30% of Canadians who need hospice palliative care will receive it.

As you may be aware since 1986 Niagara-on-the-Lake Community Palliative Care Service has helped residents in Niagara-on-on-the-Lake cope with serious life-limiting illness, death and bereavement. In 2019 alone, we served over 160 clients with nearly 1800 volunteer visits. 

On September 13, 2020, we are once again participating in our annual fundraiser for The Healing Cycle.

Participants in this event are from all the Hospice Palliative Care services in Ontario. This will be our 8^th year participating; since that time, our team has raised over $90,000 for our organization.

The Healing Cycle Foundation funds and empowers the hospice palliative care community and champions the right of all Canadians to dignity, compassion, and quality in end-of-life care.

This year we have faced many challenges and changes with the pandemic. So, instead of doing one ride on a specific day, The Healing Cycle Foundation has decided to go virtual!

Starting September 13th, the Pedal Pushers has challenged itself to go the distance. 10 km to be exact!

Our team will be completing the ride over the course of the month of September allowing for social distancing, keeping our team and community safe.

We are looking towards local businesses and community members to support us in raising money and awareness. By donating to our team, you are enabling our efforts to keep supporting our clients, who may be your neighbours or friends, at their very important time of life.

We are honoured to have had several of NOTL’s businesses and organizations take up the Pedal Pushers mantel and raise money through internal fundraising! You can create your own team or ride as an individual.
